Introducing artist-in-residence Joe Nocera

Joe Nocera will be Connexion ARC’s first Constellation Collective Artist-in-Residence from September 27 to October 10.

Connexion ARC welcomes Joe Nocera as the first artist to be featured in our Constellation Collective residency program.

Nocera was initially trained as an artist in the USA but has called Canada home for more than two decades.  He specializes in abstract and symbolic painting and has worked consistently in his Fredericton-area studio since moving to the province in 2016.  His paintings have been in local, regional, and national sales, exhibitions, and auctions.  His painting “Depth” won an artistic merit award at an international exhibition.

Nocera pursues two themes in his art – both of which are abstract in their lineage.  His first theme (his “Wild Things” line) incorporates stylized/symbolic elements of nature to explore movement and dynamism.  In these paintings he often incorporates elements of “rubber hose animation.”  His second theme (his “Formations” line) is more geometric and uses composition to invoke relativistic comparisons.

The public is welcome to come visit Joe during his residency at the Connexion ARC office in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre beginning Monday, September 27.
