CRIT SESH: isolation edition

As artists, nearly all of us are facing substantial shifts in our lifestyles. Many have been laid off from day jobs and suddenly have time to devote to creative practice but have lost financial resources. Some full-time artists have also become full-time homeschool teachers. Others are working from home and having a hard time keeping a regular schedule and adhering to the standards of productivity we’ve become accustomed to.

Connexion ARC is launching another block of dates in our series of Crit Nights, this time in virtual space. This twice-weekly series of critique sessions is intended to keep our artists connected in this time of physical distancing, whether you’re working on your professional practice or just making things to pass the time. We welcome artists at any stage in their career to network with fellow artists, practice delivering constructive criticism to others, and contextualize their work as a valuable contribution to the community – or just ask for support & encouragement. Although the session will be facilitated from a visual arts perspective, all creative disciplines are welcome to participate.

Please join us at 7pm on Wednesdays, for as long as necessary.

Format & technical info:

Connexion ARC will host video meetings via Zoom; please join using Zoom meeting code 493 748 251

A maximum of 9 artists will be able to share their work per session, but once the meeting is at capacity others may join to observe and offer feedback. To reserve a presenting spot, please contact info@connexionarc.org.

Each artist will have 5 minutes to talk about their work, then 10 minutes for discussion and questions. Artists may share their work over webcam or by screen-sharing a slideshow/video with other participants. Let us know what kind of feedback you’re looking for – do you have any specific questions for the group? Are you looking for constructive critique or light encouragement?

These sessions will take place over the Zoom videoconferencing platform, which requires the following:
– A high-speed internet connection
– A webcam to send video and a microphone to send audio (without these you may still observe the session and participate via chat, but will be unable to share audio/video.)
– A desktop or laptop computer running Windows XP or higher / Mac OS 10.7 or higher
OR
– A smartphone running IOS 7.0 or later / Android 4.0 or later

The meeting can be accessed via the free Zoom desktop program, mobile app, or via internet browser. A Zoom account is not required.

Please contact info@connexionarc.org have any technical or access concerns, or other questions.
