November 20th, Gallery Connexion presents its first gala event in its newly dedicated space. X Marks The Spot: A Cultural Caberet will showcase a wide variety of New Brunswick performance art:
Drama troupe Bard in the Barracks, musical group Curtis and the Debonairs, the Overtime Community Improv Choir, breakdancers the Bboys, NB Film screenings and more!
There will also be a silent auction including fantastic items from:
- An Artist’s Garden
- Cedar Tree Cafe
- JJ Wilby Law Offices Professional Corporation
- Kingswood
- Local entrepreneur Luke Randall

- Savage’s Bike Shop
Tickets are $30 — $20 for students! — including a free drink, and they are available at the Gallery, Westminster Books and Backstreet Records. The dress code for X Marks the Spot is “inspired formal,” and that is up to your interpretation! Funds raised will go towards programming at Gallery Connexion, Fredericton’s Artist-Run Center since 1984.
In February 2010, Gallery Connexion opened in its new location in the Chestnut Complex at 440 York St, after its first location in the provincial justice building on Queen Street flooded in 2008. On November 3rd, 2010, after a year of searching for a new space and months of renovations, Connexion held its official re-opening. Its new main gallery was dedicated to founding member Rick Burns, as the main gallery in the original Queen Street location was. Board members and staff at Connexion are eager to show off the new space and break it in in style.
